![]() ART FACULTY SHOW 2012: Recent Work by SRJC FacultyFebruary 21 – March 15, 2012
Natalie Robb-Wilder,
Woodsmoke, 2012 Artist’s StatementVisually, I am struck by situations that engage me with their transitional nature. I want my work to invite losing and finding. Beginning this drawing, Woodsmoke, I was intrigued with the way light and smoke transformed my attention to relative distance and brought my eye to intimate details of texture and unexpected color. As I worked, I wanted to let the completed image reflect the entire process of finding – from the underlying sketching, forming and re-forming to the last touches. Along the way, I lost some of the inevitable preconceptions that I had before this drawing, and found a bit of an opening to seeing new treasure. In the end, it’s the work that guides the artist to find out wonder. Natalie Robb-Wilder, January 2012
